Natura Environmental Consultants are experienced in the assessment of ecological impacts of wind energy developments and high voltage electricity transmission systems.
- We have undertaken numerous studies of proposed wind farm sites in support of planning applications. Our staff have extensive experience in upland habitat mapping, including Annex habitats, and particular expertise in upland bird populations including hen harrier and red grouse. These skills can be applied to assess any wind energy development to produce high quality results for the client.
 - We prepared the Powerline Ecology Guidelines for EirGrid, the independent electricity Transmission System Operator in Ireland. This publication is widely used by professional ecologists and engineers in the power business.
- We have undertaken numerous studies of proposed powerline routes in support of planning applications.
- Particular care needs to be taken where a proposed powerline or windfarm development is within or close to a European site, such as a SAC or SPA. In such cases, we can carry out a cost-effective Habitats Directive Assessment, also known as Appropriate Assessment, to meet the requirements of the statutory agency.
