Natura is experienced in the assessment of ecological impacts of light rail development.
- We have carried out ecological assessment of route corridors for both urban and rural rail lines to meet the planning requirements.
- Our team is experienced in the survey and evaluation of habitats and protected species occurring in the railway route corridor.
- We have recently completed EIA reports for light rail and underground electric rail projects in Dublin city. These projects were tightly budgeted and prepared for a testing process of public consultation.
Natura has extensive experience in the planning and construction of road schemes. - We prepared the Guidelines for Assessment of the Ecological Impacts of National Road Schemes for the National Roads Authority in Ireland. This is widely used by professional ecologists and engineers.
- We supervised the construction of the N8/M8 scheme, where our participation was essential to implementing the prescribed mitigation measures. This project involved Habitat Mapping, extensive Mammal Surveys and Water Monitoring, which is on-going.
- We have extensive experience in all of the planning stages of road schemes from Constraints Report and Feasibility Studies, through Route Selection Study to the Environmental Impact Statement. We also frequently provide expert witnesses to give evidence at Oral Hearings for road schemes.
